We interrupt our regularly scheduled blog topic to bring you this important announcement: My Husband Rocks!
Why you ask? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I am currently typing this blog post on.......wait for it.......MY NEW MACBOOK PRO!

Yep, I'm the luckiest girl alive!!! You should see it. I may love it even more than the Birkin (ok, let's not get carried away.) Let me tell you, this thing is amazing. The screen is huge! 15.4 inches to be exact. It is a blogger's dream (the naughty kind of course!) The pictures are amazing and I have already made my first movie of the little one. Seriously, I am OBSESSED. I can't eat, I can't sleep. I need to learn everything!

So the good news is that I am totally and completely back to my former blogger self, with wireless Internet and all! Thanks to all of you who have stuck by with me through the move and the death of my beloved computer. Consider me the Sex and the City Movie, I'm back and better than ever!

Why Don't These Things Come With Instruction Manuals??

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Yes, by things I am talking about my baby. Ok, I know there are about a zillion books out there which cover all topics ranging from breast feeding to gas, gas to sleep schedules, sleep schedules to separation anxiety; you name it, I've read it. The problem is that none of these book are about my baby.

Here's the problem. Liam and I are plugging on fine. Amazingly, I was able to keep him alive, healthy, and generally pretty happy for an entire year. The fact that I loved every minute of it is a totally unexpected bonus as far as I'm concerned. But, like all small miracles, things can change in a blink of an eye.

Liam turned on me. My bubbling, giggly, outgoing, silly little man, all of a sudden became possessed. He became a crabby, whiny, needy little spider monkey (imagine something hanging for dear life from around your neck 24/7, spider monkey pretty much paints the picture.) Where is my baby???? Where the eff did he go?

Short of an exorcism (I called my local church, apparently they don't do these anymore; crazy I know!), I have spent hours crying, reading, chewing my nails....you get the gist. So I began thinking how is it possible that the day after his first birthday, his personality totally changed. So does that mean I have to brace myself every 365 days for a totally new kid?

Finally it hit me, literally like a ton of bricks. The day after his first birthday (which by the way is exactly what those so called books tell you to do) I began giving him whole milk. This is the very moment when my devil child came to fruition.  Coincidence? I think not. After a quick call to the pedi, and a switch back to formula, surprise, surprise my loving little independent baby is back.

I went back and you know what? Not one of those damn books mentioned crankiness as a symptom of lactose intolerance. Guess, I'll have to write my own manual. One just for my baby. Of course my book would have celebrity baby pictures, diagrams, and fashion tips........take that Dr. Spock.

Dancing With The.......WHO CARES??????

Monday, August 25, 2008

Am I the only one in the world who hates Dancing With The Stars??? I mean really, who watches this show?

So apparently a new season/cast is upon us. How do I know this? Because, this is all E! NEWS talks about, I mean all they talk about. Tonight's leading story......apparently Kim (Junk in the Trunk) Kardashian cut her toe and the burning question is "How is this going to affect her dancing." Really? Really people? Is this breaking news, a stubbed toe?

TMZ also had this as their headline grabbing story, complete with pictures of the minor wound and the "crime scene" footage. Could this be more ridiculous? Some F list celebrity hurts her big toe and the media makes a huge tizzy about how this is going to affect her chances on some D list TV show. What has reality television come to?

I realize I am not referencing the most respectable of media outlets, but I still am in total disbelief that people are still interested in a show with washed up celebrities, wearing trashy sequined costumes, dancing to terrible elevator music. Not to mention this is like season number 5 of the same thing. Am I missing something? Maybe I am the one who is behind the times?

So, until I see any reason to have a change of heart, I will be keeping my DVR clear for some real quality television. What you ask? The new 90210 of course! Ok, ok I realize I may not be watching most high-brow of television shows, but Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh back together again? Now that's what I call must see TV. But now that I think about it wasn't Jennie Garth on last season's Dancing With the Stars...............

The Next Great American Novel?

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Given that Sunday is Liam's first birthday, and I have spent the last year in full mommy mode, I have begun to question what my next move is going to be. I began to think about this when I ran into my old boss/ hero/ idol/ god at the hair salon last week and she offered me a part time job. While I was incredibly honored, I realized I am no where near ready to return to the work force. Like not even close. So now what?

I, like most of the general population, have been dying to write a book. I have dreamt about, and written and re-written this novel probably a hundred times in my head. Like most aspiring writers, I unfortunately have never written a word. In fact, I never thought that I could actually write. I am slowly learning through this blog that maybe, just maybe with the right amount of discipline I could possibly do this. I'm not saying this is going to be on the top of the New York Times Best Seller List (could you imagine?) but I have read more than enough chick lit (like every single one, ten times) to know my book will kick some Bridget Jones' ass.

So why not, and why not now. When will I ever have four hours a day (yes my child is an amazing napper) to do nothing but put the pen to paper, or finger to key in this case. So I have dedicated Wednesdays to all things literary in honor of my new found career; a writer! Now all I need is a computer (honey, I REALLY hope that new Mac is going to appear soon, hint hint).

So here we go.... from lawyer to mommy; mommy to consultant; and now consultant to writer.

See you at your local Barnes and Noble for my book signing next year!

6 degrees of Heidi Montag

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

In honor of the new season of The Hills premiering last night, I figured I would let you in on a little tidbit of information about myself.

I was almost Heidi Montag. Seriously, I'm not crazy. Had I been born 7 years earlier, I too could have been a manufactured blond, who for some unknown reason is constantly making the cover of Us Weekly, and I could be dating the slimiest/ creepiest man on earth. Why, oh, why couldn't my parents just waited a mere 7 years to bring me into this world??????

You don't believe me? Ok, here is the story.

So, when I went back to my hometown for the wedding in July, aka when I "reclaimed my childhood" I was sitting around with a bunch of girls and The Hills came up (of course, what 20 somethingish girl does not discuss The Hills in every conversation?) Anyhoo, someone asked me if I lived in Glenwood when the Montag's lived there. "Montag, as in Heidi Montag," I shrieked. Never mind, the fact that she is the only fake celebrity that I wish dismemberment on, never mind that I wish her implants would explode (while the show was filming live, of course.) But, OMG, Heidi Montag went to my tiny elementary school in the Middle of BFE Coloroado!

Apparently, she and her sister moved to my small town very shortly after I moved away. Her mother got divorced and eventually moved to a nearby town and remarried. I too had a single mother who could have easily made this same transition. Then I could have moved to LA met LC and the rest as we know would have been reality television history.

I know! it's so crazy! I was almost Heidi Montag! Just insert my face here!

For now, I'll have to settle for my small celebrity on the blogosphere, My A cup chest, and my not so slimly husband.

Remind me to thank my parents every chance I get that I was born when I was!

The Anderson's suffered a great loss this weekend.

My blogging machine, aka My Husband's gaming machine, aka our home computer, passed away Sunday at 3:55pm. In truth it died about a week before, but it was Sunday that I received that fateful phone call that my baby didn't make it through the surgery.

"Technically" she could have been saved but any operation would have cost more than she was worth. My husband (being the sentimental guy he is), then asked can you recycle it? What about the memories, what about my blog, I cried. But alas the computer is now somewhere in computer heaven, and I am without a computer from the hours of 8-6 while my husband is happily typing away on our laptop. at work. 2 miles away. Leaving me with NOTHING to write with.

Clearly this little "situation" is not going to last and I am now not so subtly lusting after a Mac Book like I lust after a pair of Christian Louboutin knee high boots, the crocodile ones, you know the ones that are virtually impossible to get. Yes, it's that bad, if you gave me the option right now I would chose the computer (honey, I hope you're reading this.....wink, wink.)

So until my beautiful little white laptop appears, I will have to post at night so I apologize to those of you who like to read a new post with your cup of morning coffee. I am sure my prince will come through soon.

Maternity Chic

Friday, August 15, 2008

In honor of all my newly preggie yummy mummies out there, you know who you are, I have to let you in on a little secret. During my last pregnancy I had the best wardrobe. Really, the best. My secret? Isabella Oliver Maternity wear.

For our London friends this will come as no surprise. But for those of us across the pond, this is like the best kept secret in yummy mummy land. Isabella Oliver's clothes are amazing. They are super stylish and totally affordable. Here are a few of my pics for winter.

Totally makes you want to get knocked up doesn't it?

Donna Martin Graduates!

I am a little completely and utterly embarrassed to tell you this. In fact I am A LOT embarrassed to tell you this......

I am totally OBSESSED with Tori and Dean. Not so much Tori and Dean themselves, but rather, Tori and Dean the TV show. I love it! I feel like I am literally watching my own life on TV. Well, not quite my life, but the similarities are frightening.

Never mind the fact that our boys are about the same age and have the same name, and never mind the fact that she was also renovating a new house, and was having major issues with the completion of said house, but like me she is totally out of her mind.

I can't believe Donna Martin is my celebrity missing half! How is it possible that during all of those 90210 reruns I never realized I was watching my soul mate on the television. Ok, ok, maybe soul mate is a bit over the top, but seriously people I love this show and will be very sad next week when the season finale airs.......now I just have to find a way to get her to read my blog. Then we will be besties, and I could move to Hollywood, and we could barbecue at each others house, and our kids will be best friends, and my son can marry her new daughter.......

Got You! What did you think, I'm some kind of stalker? I'm not that crazy.........not yet anyway.

Technologically Challenged

OMG. Ok, so I realize I have been gone ALL week, but I promise I have a great excuse! My computer totally and utterly shit the bed. Here I am in my new house, sitting down Monday morning to write my first blog on my new desk, in my new bedroom, coffee in hand, and I go to turn on the computer and ........nothing. I mean nothing. Like nothing. Damn computer wont turn on. After about 2 hours of banging it I called Geek Squad (they can fix anything right?) WRONG. If the computer won't turn on there is NOTHING they can do. Great. So now my blogging machine is at the Doctor where it is getting a full heart transplant. Needless to say this is why I have been MIA. I can't tell you how much I miss getting those posts out and I love all of you for checking in. I especially want to give a shout out to That Girl, whose comments have been keeping my spirit lifted throughout the last month!

You may be wondering how I am writing now, so by the grace of god my mother-in-law is visiting and brought her laptop! I'll try to get caught up from the week during the next few days. I hope to be up and running again soon!

There's No Place Like Home, There's No Place Like Home......

Home, Sweet, Condo. I never imagined that those words would ever sound so yummy!

So yes, we are FINALLY in our new home. It was touch and go there for a while, but amazingly we pulled through the nine long nights and ten long days at the Cambridge Courtyard Marriott, a.k.a the hotel from hell.

Alas, most of those horrible memories have been washed away in the pure euphoria that I now feel sitting here on my fancy new sofa looking around at the beauty that is my new home, my first home. Just like any new mother I can't stop taking pictures, and as soon as I can figure out my high speed internet (not as easy as the cable guy made it sound) you will be the first to see my beautiful new addition.

Now that I am settled I promise to be back and hopefully better than ever. So make sure you check in daily. I've missed all of you. For now I'm going to decide which one of my three (yes three!) bathrooms to take a long hot bath in. Who am I kidding, I'm really going to sit in my new closet and stare at my shoe collection, I don't want them to be lonely.

Seriously?

Day 9 of living in a hotel.

House is completely unpacked to the point of having pictures hung on the wall, yet we still can't live there and there is no indication when we can move in.

Liam got his first bout of the croup and was in Urgent Care yesterday.

and to top it all off.......

The wireless at the hotel is spotty at best.

Welcome to my life.

ps i hope to be back to full time blogging next Monday so make sure to check back!

Punishment for my past life??????

Friday, August 1, 2008

"Dream Home" not finished + Living in a one room hotel with my husband, baby, and 19 year old hottie sister H.M. + 90 degree heat = Hell.

Ok, so it's not that bad; but it's not great either. The room is nice, close to downtown, and it has a pool. But let me tell you sharing one room can definitely get a bit crowded. Somehow we are surviving and no one has killed anyone else, yet.

The inspector (aka the Devil), finally showed today (a week late) and said our furniture could move in. We can not. Small victory I suppose. Hopefully, by Wednesday I will be looking out my 17 foot windows, and will be enjoying the view of my custom built closets (more to follow on this) with a big fat glass of Chardonnay in my hand. This vision is keeping me alive!

Luckily, said hotel has internet access so I will try to keep you all updated! It's going to be a LONG weekend.
