Happy Friday!  What are you all up to this weekend?  Our winter weekends have started to fall in to the same routine, and I have to say that I'm loving it.  On Saturdays, I take the LM skiing while Gray stays home with Daddy, and on Sunday I take the boys with me to yoga (my gym has a great daycare) and then as a reward we do something super fun in the afternoon (like Legoland, or the movies, or an indoor playground.)  It's been working great for everyone, except my husband has been looking for something fun to do with them while still being able to recover from his surgery.  This weekend we are starting "donuts with dad," which means he is in charge of getting them out the door and to the Dunkin Donuts a few blocks away.   My goal is to stay in bed the entire time... let's see if that actually happens.  I'm really hoping this becomes a thing because, man, that would be awesome.

I keep hearing about icing as being the new skin craze.  This is one that I can definitely get on board with since all it entails is taking a piece of ice, wrapping it in a cloth, and rubbing it all over your face in the morning.  Apparently, Kate Moss is a fan, which reason enough for me to give it a go.  Well, that and it's free!!!

When real life doesn't look like a lifestyle blog.  I took this one to heart and left the house without making beds today, which is something I NEVER do.  The world didn't fall apart and we made it to school on time without rushing.  Mind blown.

Finally, I'm really taking a break from shopping again this year, but I have been desperate need of some new white jeans, given that my old paid were pretty much yellow from so much wear.  I ordered these and could not be happier.  They are freakishly soft and the cut is perfection.  If you are on the hunt, look no further!

It's Friday which means only one thing around here... no more school for 18 more days!  Eek.  Part of me is psyched, because this means no more mornings rushing, yelling, rushing, driving, rushing... but then the other part of me is saying, "no more school for 18 days ?!?!?!?!"  Luckily, we have something planned almost every day, so hopefully I can keep these wild animals I call children busy, and I'm most looking forward getting in some time just having no where to go.  To kick things off this weekend my sister is hanging with us, and after I take the LM skating we are making christmas cookies. On Sunday, we are going with friends to see the Urban Nutcracker.  Have you been? Good Morning! Hope you all are having a wonderfully, indulgent, and relaxing Sunday morning.  For the first time in about 7.5 years, both boys are upstairs watching a movie (Toy Story 3) and eating cereal together... alone!  All of a sudden yesterday, the two of them decided that they could actually play together for hours and not call out for one of us to come over every thirty seconds.  I'm sure it's just a wonderful, and short lived phase they are going through, but you can bet my husband and I didn't waste a second and have been spending as much time as we can drinking coffee in bed, and even snuck in a nap yesterday afternoon.  Crazy, I know!  The rest of our weekend has been full of excitement!  On Saturday, the LM had his first BIG skate competition and skated in the 14 and under group.  He looked so little out there, and despite being nervous, he was so brave and did a great job! This momma couldn't have been any prouder.  Today, I'm sneaking in a much needed yoga class and then it's off to another birthday party they go!

What are you all up to this chilly weekend?  I've spent the majority of it watching my little man on his skateboard, which is fine by me, given that this change in daylight savings has unfortunately brought forth a new surge of energy in the boys, and I'm just happy to have somewhere for him to expend it!  All of a sudden our home seems very small when two big boys are running through it like tasmanian devils all...day...long.  After a long day outside, last night we all piled on the sofa and the boy's watched Home Alone for the first time.  I have seriously never seen these kids laugh so hard!  I have a feeling we will be doing exactly the same thing tonight with the sequel!

 Happy Saturday! What are you all up to this gorgeous Fall weekend?  Today the LM and I are up in New Hampshire for a little skate session, and then later I'm whipping up our favorite homemade fig pizza, and we're planning to watch this classic movie.  Tomorrow we will be heading over to our favorite event of the year, The Head of the Charles, which happens to take place in our back yard. Each year I tell me husband we are never moving, because I can't imagine ever not being here for the races!

Happy iPhone 6 day Friday!  Yes, I am one of those people who has been tracking UPS like it's carrying my baby today, but in my defense I have been working with an iPhone 4 (not s) for about a year now, and while I can handle the screen held together with duct tape, the 2 hour battery life has pretty much crippled me.  Finally, I get to see what all the rest of you have been talking about for about a year, and I don't know, actually make a call?!?!  Other than messing with my new toy, we are hanging low this weekend, and spending as much time outside as we can because it's supposed to be gorgeous here! Sure, we all think these things sometimes, but to actually take the time to write it knowing someone on the other end is a) human, and b) reading,  is something I cannot comprehend.  That being said, I think there are a lot of the big time bloggers who refuse to allow any criticism, even of the constructive nature.  You see it over and over again where someone will question a choice, and not only are they attacked by the blogger, but also their spouse, parents, dog, and legion of readers.  This article sums this up nicely.  Clearly, it seems like moderating the forum is key.

 Hola! I know, I know, it's been an eternity since I posted.  Between school getting out, packing, and traveling, there just really hasn't been any time!  The boys and I arrived in Costa Rica late on Monday night, and so far this has been our best trip yet.  Like, exponentially better.  The plane ride, the acclimating, the allowing everyone to have a semblance of a vacation, all of it has been more than ideal.  This has everything to do with the boys being older and nothing to do with anything that we've changed (although a second iPad and some legos have been a godsend.)  I have to say, traveling with a 3 and 7 year old really is so much better than what we've ever experienced, we are almost giddy at what the next few years will hold!  Since we've been down here, I've really been trying to force myself to unplug.  We've been keeping our phones locked away in the safe, and I've only been hopping on my computer once a day. This forced digital diet has been so good for the soul, and besides the time with this kids, I've already finished two books and taken more than my share of naps. Um, heaven. 

I swear I won't be neglecting this blog completely, and will try to find my way back here when the time, and mood strike.  Until then, I wish you all a fabulous weekend, and a great start to Summer.  I can't even believe it's finally here!

Happy Saturday, these weeks are flying by and I'm trying my best to stay on top of the blog (and failing,) but some days there just aren't enough hours in the day.  Better late than never, I hope?  We have a low key weekend planned, given we only have two left before we move this party to Central America for a good chunk of the Summer, so this weekend is all about prep for the big event, starting off with some much needed haircuts for my three boys.  Everyone want to go SHORT for the Summer, so I will make sure to take some before and afters!  After that, if the rain holds off we are hoping to head down to the Pride parade, to show our support.  Tomorrow the kids and I are heading to Legoland so Daddy can spend the morning reading in bed, which is only fitting since I spent Mother's Day watching movies (heavenly.)  I hope whatever your plans are, you have a great one!  Here are a few fun links for this rainy Saturday morning! xo

You guys, I had the worst food poisoning on Wednesday (seriously, it felt like I was dying) and it turns out it was from some leftover Chinese rice I had the night before. Apparently, this is a common event and why you should never eat takeout rice the next day. Lesson learned.

I'm just going to call this #justice. Man, I wish my middle school self would have had this scientific proof taped in my locker.  Former geeks unite!

This family's story has been everywhere this week and for good reason. What incredible strength that little boy has shown, and his parents deserve so much applause for their acceptance and for sharing their journey. I have to say, I'm really happy Gray got his pink shoes this week, and that I didn't try to convince him otherwise... nothing has made him happier; ever!

TGIS!!!  In Summer break terms that stands for "Thank Goodness It's Saturday, and Daddy's home!"  It's not that I mind having the kids home, it actually makes life a lot easier, but man, it sure is more fun to do it with someone else around!  We have a pretty lazy weekend planned, some skating, some soaking up the sun, and some birthday parties.  Normally, I would be all "yay, birthday's are great" but tonight's is really going to take the cake (no pun intended) with batting practice at Fenway park!!!!!  What?  Yes, in my next life I would like to come back as my child too!  I hope whatever your plans are, that you have a great weekend, and are able to get some of the Summer like rays we are getting!

Happy Friday! I cannot believe it is already Memorial Day weekend! What the what!!! Around here you wouldn't know it because its cold and rainy (per the usual) but we are promised some sun shortly, and I plan on holding someone accountable if it doesn't pan out. Who? I'm not sure, but c'mon, it's almost June, can't we get a break? Besides complaining about the weather (man, I really am getting old) we have a low key weekend with the kiddos planned. Tonight we are heading to a play date at a friend's house, and tomorrow, I'm taking the LM and his buddy skating and then we are having dinner at my new favorite place in town. Sunday, the boys and I are going to a sibling class at their favorite play center and I'm hoping it will be warm enough for the beach on Monday, but after shivering one too many times, I'm not counting on anything until the day of!

Boston now has its own mini Legoland! I'm pretty sure we will be spending every weekend here, for the next 5 years!

Happy Easter weekend! Wait, wasn't it just Christmas a few weeks ago?  Seriously, where has the time gone?  Since we are not followers of any religion, we don't have a whole lot planned this weekend, but the kids are very much looking forward to their baskets on Sunday, and tonight we are going to decorate eggs!  Gray is in his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle phase right now, so we have adopted it as this years "theme."  What that has to do with Easter, I'm not sure, but we are going with it.  Other than that we are just going to be hanging around our hood, trying to take advantage of any sunshine that would like to come our way.  You know, the usual. ;)

Tis the season of the hard boiled egg.  Did you all know that they come out 100 times better if you bake them instead of boiling them?  It's true! I'll never go back after trying it!  The best part is that they don't smell when you put them in the fridge.  Seriously, trust me on this one.

My girlfriend turned me on to these little 100 calorie chia bars, and I'm obsessed.  I get really cranky when I'm hungry, and these are definitely great to have on hand!

I think we are going to steal this idea, and have a French macaron cake at my sister's wedding!  I'm pretty sure it is going to be a hit, I mean, who doesn't love macarons?

I made this for dinner on Tuesday and it was INCREDIBLE!  I served it over red quinoa, instead of rice, and I've been dreaming about it ever since.  This one is definitely in the weekly rotation!

Happy Saturday!!!! What are you all up to this beautiful, sunny, and WARM weekend? The kids and I are planning on spending every second of it outside, starting with an easter egg hunt in our local park today, and a skate session at an outdoor park tomorrow. After over a decade in this part of the world, I have learned that you do not mess around on the first springlike weekend of the year... you never know when you are going to get another!

Finally, on a more serious note, I can't believe it's almost been a year since the marathon bombing. Yesterday, Gray and I were near the finish line as preparations were beginning, and the whole space felt so heavy with grief for me, I am now sure that we will be steering clear of the festivities all together. This photo series, by Runners World brought me to tears, but also makes me feel so much pride for my fellow Bostonians. There were so many people we knew, who were down there that day, and I still really feel like it could have been any of us, who just happened to stand near one of those backpacks. This week we will all be thinking of those who lost so much that day.

Happy Sunday! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Things feel positively springy around here, which is a welcome change from the norm! Yesterday, the LM and I skied in mid 50 temps, and today we have a chance of finally getting rid of that last bit of snow on the ground. The "lost" hour of sleep, means my crew can finally get in to the routine they much prefer, an hour earlier to bed, and up with the sun... and for us it means and hour less we have to keep them busy today! haha. Of course, it also means we will get home before it's dark out, and for my mindset that is just a game changer!
