She Bangs.

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

I swear it's like clockwork around here, every time the weather starts to drop a few degrees and the leaves begin to fall, I decide I want bangs. No, not want, but need bangs. I realize that these things have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with each other, but for some reason in my twisted mind the two go hand in hand. The question always is what kind of bangs? Blunt, side swept, wispy, straight. There are so many options, and as you can see below, if you look like a celebrity you can pull off almost any style.

Alas, the conclusion that I come to every year is that, sadly, I don't look like a celebrity, and thus I look terrible in bangs (hats too.) Add in the fact that after the "bang disaster of 2006" (a real event) I pinky-swore with my hairdresser that no matter how much I begged, pleaded, and cried, he would never, never, I repeat, NEVER, allow me to force him to give me bangs, I think that sadly my banging days are far behind me.

Clearly, that hasn't stopped me from longing and lusting for that "perfect" fall bang, so here is some bang porn for the rest of you.... just because I can't do it doesn't mean I want to ruin the party for everyone else.
In my next life.....

Have you tried the side bang? I haven't had bangs since I was a child and I refused to ever go back since I had them for the majority of my childhood..but I did cave a teensy bit and tried the side bang a few years ago. Surprisingly it was a nice change that switched things up a bit. Just a thought. :)

Hi - this is funny to read as I blogged about the same thing today. I had them cut about 6 months ago and it's just started to grow out... It's something about this hairdo that is like catnip to women our age! So funny the similarities! Lou x

I get the same urge in the fall!! I think it's because humidity drops and I start to realize that I could tame my curly-ish hair to be cute straight bangs.

I had a fringe cut about 3 months ago for the first time since I was about 5 - I must say I do love it.

I love bangs and keep getting them. However I have ramrod straight hair that parts in the middle, so after two days of tying to set my 'bangs' I just pin them up till they grow out.

Hi! This is completely random, but my husband and I ran into you at Starbucks in Boston last week, so I thought I'd pop over and say hi!

I love all the pictures you gathered about bangs. I completely have a love/hate relationship, but recently cut them AGAIN and I think I really like them this time. Well, for now :)

I haven't stopped tweeting per se... I was locked out for a while, and couldn't access it on my mobile so I got out of the habit of updating. Also, now that the LM is in school, I feel like I am on sporadically that I am always missing something and thus am late for the party.

That being said, I still always think of something, and think about tweeting it... I guess I just have to get back into the habit of it.
