Sneaky Little Bugger.

I was taking some pictures of the little man the other day when I noticed something a little peculiar in my view. Do you see it?

How about now?

Yep! That would be a baby under that chair. In fact, no matter where you step in this house, it seems as though there is destined to be a baby under your foot.

I, 1) forgot how fast these kids can be, 2) forgot how quiet they can be, and 3) now remember how much easier life was when you could leave them in one spot, knowing that when you came back they would still be in said spot.

From now on, I'm leaving the baby finding up to this guy... while I IMMEDIATELY baby proof every part of this house!

Help! Please be my Designer!

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Okay, so I have a little design dilemma and I need your help!

Here is the current state of our bedroom. (Yes, totally ripped off Jenna Lyons... I admit it.)

I had originally planned on putting this up over the bed.

I know, safe and predictable... but still kind of cool.

BUT

Now I really want this (in a large scale print)  hanging over me while I dream at night.

Thoughts? Too feminine? Too kitschy? Too random?

OR totally freaking fabulous

I kind of think the latter. My husband will definitely agree with the former. I need you in my corner before  I even bring it up.

Please discuss.

Parting Ways.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

A few weeks ago I decided to something super crazy, and began parting my hair in the middle. I say *crazy* because for me this was actually a huge change, and something I never thought I would ever do. I am the kind of person who finds a hairstyle that I like and then I continue to rock it for at least a decade, so you know this took some serious prodding from my sister! Every since I've made the switch, I've noticed this style in all the spring catalogs and summer previews. Could it be that a center part + beachy waves really is the perfect Summer hairdo? If these pictures are any indication than the answer is yes yes yes!!!

Here is what I use to get my 5 minute "beachy wave" look, sans curling iron.

Center part optional ;)

A Little Incentive.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Next week baby Gray will be entering his 9th month of life. I'd like to say that we have been patiently waiting for him to learn to crawl, but given my type A++++ tendencies, admittedly I have been googling "why isn't my 8 month old crawling" for the better part of three weeks. Sweet little Gracie is happy just being fat and rolling, and so far that is what he has done.... grown and rolled, grown and rolled... repeat for 2 months. Well, it turns out there was an army crawl deep in him after all, and all the kid needed was a little incentive. Who knew that our new iPad and a free aquarium app was all my little guy needed to get moving? In other news, I highly recommend this protective case for those of you will little kids, they say that it can withstand the force of a Hummer, so maybe it will be able to handle the force of an 8 month old. Maybe.  ;)

Happy Friday!

The Lost Week.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Whattttttttttt.... It's already Thursday? Where has this week gone? My little man has been home from school all week for break and we've spent every day/ hour/ minute at skate camp, which just so happens to be in the middle of no where. As much as I would like to complain about the lack of internet access, I can't because the kid is having the time of his life.... even though he is 10 years younger than everyone else!

Little Man, Big Room.

Thursday, April 12, 2012

As I was looking through the blog yesterday, I realized that I had never shared with you the before & after pictures of my Little Man's room. They should really be called before, before, before... and after pictures... but now, I think we can finally say we are done! His room isn't quite as "designed" as Gray's but it really does suit his personality, and he just loves it so much that I really consider it to be my greatest achievement out of all the rooms in our home.

The bed made with love by mom
You all know by now that I can't have a room without nautical stripes ;)

The greatest toy shelf ever! Makes clean up a breeze!

The chalkboard wall we made a few years back. Tutorial can be found here. You can't tell in this picture, but the map is laminated and pinned with all the countries/ places the LM has visited. I'm hoping we can fill every continent before he graduates!

Lastly, a little skater boy's room can't be complete without some decals on the wall! These are made of chalkboard and we've named them after the LM and his instructor! Before bed we always say good night to them!

4 years of blood (mine), sweat (mine), and tears (a few from each of us) went into this room, and I could't be any happier with the end result!

New Blog, New Attitude!

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Welcome to my new and MUCH improved blog!!! I have always felt like my little spot in the Internet was like a part of my home, and now it actually looks like a room in my house!!!!  (Gray's to be exact) I couldn't be happier with the design, and now when I see my little page, I want to scream that this is so ME!!!!! My little makeover has totally inspired me to blog more, and I already have a list of things that I've been writing down that I am dying to share with you. Assuming we get in some good naps around here, I'm hoping to be much more present!!!!

To kick things off, I thought I'd take part in one of my favorite features that shows up on some blogs every now and then... a little Q&A. Has there ever been anything you've wanted to ask me personal, or just silly? Feel free to send your questions on over and I promise I'll answer all the nice ones!!! :) Now is your time to ask about anything from IVF to my favorite baby products, to how and when my hubby and I met. You want to know it? I'll answer!!! You can email your questions or just ask in the comment section... I'll try to do my best to help with wardrobe questions, home decor, baby issues... etc... etc...

Until then, I'd like to thank you all again for reading, can you believe that for some of you it's been almost 4 years!!!

A HUGE thanks goes out to Michelle of Shabby Creations for taking my vision and making it real, and the biggest thanks goes to one of my best friends, Jaimie, of Jaimie Arnold Photography for taking the beautiful pictures that you see here. Can I just tell you that these pictures were taken in her home, in less than five minutes, during a group play date with 8 kids under 5 running around!!!!! Now that is some serious talent... and patience! If you are in the Boston area, and are looking for an amazing family and child photographer, I cannot recommend her services enough!

P.S. Check out those nifty little buttons at the top... now you can easily follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest (where I spend most my time) and email me if you desire! Come early and come often!!!

Happy Easter!

Sssssshhhhhhh don't tell the kids, but we actually celebrated yesterday... luckily the big bunny still managed to make it to our house, even though it was one day early. ;)

I hope you all are having a wonderful time with your families!

The Past Few Weeks.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Hi, it's me. The most neglectful blogger ever. Remember me? I know I could give you all a laundry list of reasons why I haven't been around much, but the short story is that finding the time to sit down and think has gotten quite a bit harder with the addition of BG. Every day I have a list of things to do while the boys nap and somehow writing a blog post is always the thing I can never get to. I realize that my not blogging doesn't effect the world in any real way, but for me, it has felt like something has been missing. The past few weeks I've thought about shutting the whole thing down, but I think I'd miss my little corner of the internet, and I hope that some of you would miss me too. So, rather that shutting down, I'm thinking I need a little freshening up around here to {hopefully} kickstart my blogging mojo. In the next few weeks I'm hoping to have a new look, and renewed fervor for sharing with you our daily lives, and all the things that make my world a little brighter. Until then, I promise to try to be more present, and barring any disasters, be more regular in my posting!

Now on to the good stuff. I figured that the best way to share with you all what we've been up to the past few weeks is to go into the ol' iPhone and try to remember myself what we've been doing. While I may not "remember" most days, I'm happy to report that I somehow seem to remember to capture the highlights with my camera phone.* Here are the highlights.

First it got warm 'round these parts. Really warm. Like it was almost 90 degrees. Some people complained. We were not those people. BG was the first to take his thighs out for a show.

Followed quickly by his brother.

Right around the time the weather heated up, my husband lost his resolve and finally agreed that we needed a new car. We had outgrown our beloved Prius, and for the first time in both our lives we now have our first new car! I have to admit, I have never been one to understand the allure of "nice" cars, but after driving this bad boy for a month... I totally get it. Oh, and that new car smell, I really think they should bottle it and sell it as cologne!

In case there was any doubt, the LM has not faltered in his love of skateboarding. He still lives and breathes it. Here he is (in the blue helmet) rolling with his weekend "crew."

Did I mention that I have two kids? You know how I know? We finally became "those people' at Target. The ones that roll around with the giant cart. The LM used to use the other side to store his "stuffes" but now happily shares the seat with his baby bro.

Speaking of brothers, lately these two have been actually playing together. The bigger Gray gets, the happier the LM seems to be having him around. So much so that now he only plays in baby's "area" which makes Gray pretty much the happiest little guy on the planet. Who needs entertainment when you have a big brother?

Of course, all good things must come to an end, and last week the warm weather left us for a few more weeks. Even though we are back to fleeces and hats, we have still be spending quite a bit of time swinging at the park.

... and goofing around at the indoor playground.

There you have it. The past few weeks. Pinky swear it won't take me this long to post again!

*What did they do in the olden days... and my olden I mean pre 2007? I feel like I should thank my mother every day that I actually have pictures of my childhood... could you imagine having to develop film every week?
