Spring Hair.. For Whenever It Decides To Get Here.

Monday, April 11, 2011

I have to admit, that for the past week I have been overly obsessed with warmer weather. I blame the local weathermen for this one. See, about 7 days ago we were promised temperatures that were going to be somewhere near the 80s by the end of the weekend. Yes, 80! Well, It turns out that they were smoking something, because short of a spring(ish) day yesterday, it has been nothing but cold (okay, cool) and soon to be rainy in these parts. Either way, the lack of sun hasn't stopped me from lusting after sundresses, flip flops and, of course, some lazy days at the beach. I think the thing that I love most about warmer weather is how un-done you can be, while still looking good, and believe me, at almost 7 months pregnant I will jump on any trend that allows me to leave the house with as little effort as possible. This is why I am LOVING these hair tutorials that have been created over on A Cup of Joe (one of my favorite daily reads.) Step by step instructions for the perfect Spring and Summer hair... really what could be more effortless than that? Even though it may only be in the 50's today, I'm thinking of trying out the three twisted buns. At this point I'll take anything to remind this girl that soon spring will be on it's way. Click each link for the simple tutorial.

Three Twisted Buns.
Braided Top Bun.
Messy Side Ponytail.
Pure un-done perfection.

P.S. Can someone tell me what it takes to be a weather(person)? Clearly, accuracy is not required for the job, so I'm just wondering what it is exactly that qualifies anyone to constantly be wrong about something that seems pretty based in science. Written by a bitter New Englander, who else?

I'm pretty sure the being a weather person is the only job where you can be wrong 80% of the time and still e employed!!

Lovely hair wish mine was long enough to try them. I hear you about the weather people! Who else could be wrong 90% of the time and still keep their job?

Just curious, does being 6 months pregnant make getting ready more difficult? I mean it seems like you have plenty of time on your hands....

Ugh, gotta love Anon above *huge eye roll in their direction*.

I'm with ya - again, watching snow fall in Whistler. I so want to pull out a maxi dress, some sandals and just go but darn it the weather.

Oh, and I am totally all over the three twisted buns!!

The girl with the side ponytail (bottom picture) looks like a deformed skeleton. Her emaciated limbs are disgusting, not only grotesquely skinny but twisted like the bones are bent. How very messed up. This is not "fashion" worth emulating.

i believe it's the same girl in all the pics. to be honest, didn't look at her body considering I was writing about her HAIR, but I'm sure the unknown girl appreciates the comment.

Why so snarky? I'm simply pointing out that the images we receive in fashion today are extremely unhealthy. This girl is so bony her shoulders have points on them, and her chest is so concave that the tiniest of tank tops hangs like a sack on her. How anyone could not notice that is beyond me, but hey, if as you say you were only looking at her hair, perhaps you really didn't catch it. But I fail to see why me stating that she is a disgusting example for young fashionistas to follow invokes your need to become all bitchy at me. WTF?

Perhaps you are one of those pro-ana chicks?

Oh my word, I cannot believe the negativity on a post about spring hairstyles.

Dara G., if you are truly concerned about the issues you are "simply pointing out", maybe you should find the appropriate venues... perhaps volunteer at an ED clinic and channel that negative energy into something more positive.

I think all of the hairstyles are adorable, but the braided bun is my favorite. Thanks for posting, Yummy!
