Apparently the Little Man has been reading my blog because he must have seen the comment last week where someone remarked on how "un-lived in" my home looked. Where are all the kid's toys she asked? Well, usually, I am able to keep them in one corner. We play with one set of toys, we put them away, and then we play with another set and so on. Yeah, not any more. The Little Man now needs to play with every toy that he owns at the exact same time. It's not so much that he wants to play with them, but rather he wants to see them scattered around every single corner of our fairly small living room.

Here is how the room looked before the LM made his way up the stairs.

And here is the same room about 5 minutes later.

After this things got much, much worse.

Hey, as long as he is having fun (and playing independently) this mummy is not going to complain. Cleaning up is very much in the job description. I just think it is amazing what a mess a little guy can make in such a short period of time.

They say that a hurricane is coming to New England on Monday, but for us Hurricane Little Man has already hit this living room head on, leaving behind quite the trail of destruction. Note to self: NO MORE TOYS

Much better ha ha...

That is great that he is an independent player. I have heard from my MIL that the time is coming where we will need shelves of some sort for all the kids toys with different pieces to keep them organized or they won't play with them-around 2 yrs. I currently have a toy chest everything piled in there i have to admit itsn't working out very great already.

Do I ever know about that toy mess! I prob. pick up 8 times a day because I have two boys four years and 21 mths (my 7yr old daughter does great at keeping toys in her room). Thankfully I have been able to confine it to my den and not my front living room.

Seriously, now I see why people have play rooms/ family rooms....because there is just so much stuff! Jodi, I love the bin/drawer concept and I am currently on the prowl for something. Living in the city does not allow for much space for all that stuff! I could keep it in the LM's room but then we would be stuck downstairs all day. This way I can be where the action is but sadly like you Kriss I have to pick up 100 times a day. Oh how I miss 7 month olds...things are so much easier before they are mobile!

LOL Julie! He can pretty much "do" any room just the same! He is available by the hour or the weekend....just be warned he starts around 6:30 every morning and finishes around 7:30pm! hehe. You can have him ANY TIME!

Oh I feel your pain. I have an 18 month old and she is the same way. Even though we have great storage solutions (I have an armoire and a leather ottoman for all of her toys and her play kitchen is tucked in the pantry), I still struggle with how "anal" I really want to be about it all. Pick up five times to ten times a day, or just wait til bedtime? By then I am usually too worn out! Ah well, such is life with toddlers. Next developmental milestone...picking up after self :)

It's just way too hard to control all the toy clutter isn't it? I usually wait till the end of the day to pick up after my littlest man.

Found your blog via Getting Ink.

I think that's great that he is being creative and playing independently. Many kids are so "structured" and lose that so quickly.
