The Girl Effect.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

I saw this the other day and can't get it out of my head. If you have a daughter or are a woman I imagine that this will resonate the same with you. It's time to stand up together for women around the world. Who will join me?

For most of my family and friends you are getting a chance for Christmas this year. Actually you are giving one, in your name we are giving a girl out there a chance to succeed. Sorry I didn't wrap it first.

How many chances can you buy for the cost of your retarded designer yoga water bottle? (or for that matter, one of the $70 pairs of Lulu yoga pants that I have a feeling are part of your lavish wardrobe). Spare us the pseudo-philanthropy, Yum. It just doesn't jive with the other 99.999% of your posts.

Anon- spending and giving are not mutually exclusive. I feel fortunate that I am able to do both. At this time of year spending on things can get out of hand. I was trying to give an option that I believe in.

Great charity and great suggestion! I love the idea of improving the world by helping girls. It's the perfect holiday gift. Thanks for sharing. I hope you don't mind if I share the same info at Grams Made It.

and another thing anon. Your use of the word "retarded" is stigmatizing, degrading, and demeaning at best. Perhaps you should spend more time considering the language that you use. I urge you to read this article.

in fact I urge everyone to read it. This is a word that should be removed from all of our verbal dictionaries and I am thankful that I have a friend to remind me of that.

Again - please get off your self-righteous soapbox. You spend half of your day online shopping, and the other half writing a fake novel while ignoring your kid. YOU should consider the language YOU use - your writing is atrocious! Constant mis-spellings, bad grammar, and don't even get me started on the content - so trite and hackneyed (look it up, I doubt you know what that means), not to mention immature and self-involved. You have become blog equivalent of your favorite restaurant (omg, it's So Good!), Stephanie's -- boring, sophomoric, and hopelessly unoriginal.

Lol...I love when blog readers think that because they read your blog, or know (i.e. stalk) you from afar, that they really know you and what you do every day.
And I love it even more when they get so worked up over posts. Can't you just see the steam coming out of Anon's ears?

What does it say about you, Anon, that you spend your time reading and responding to a blog that is, as you term it, boring, sophomoric, and hopelessly unoriginal?

and yet you keep reading...AND commenting. What does that say about you?

Thank you for sharing! What a positive message this is and it should only breed more good karma.

Hi YM. I just returned from a wonderful holiday in Punta Cana where it was 80 degrees in the shade. Today, it's 35 degrees in the sun (typical Ontario weather) and I made myself a cup of steaming hot chocolate so I could relax and catch up with you. As my daughter would say, WTF? I'm thinking that not having a blogger name makes me "Anonymous" also and after having read your Anonymous' comments, I think I'm going to sign up for a user name!
Thanks for the great stories and I thoroughly enjoy my time reading them.
