A Good Shellacking?

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

I'm back from New York (much more to come on this soon) and almost too tired to type. I figured this would be as good of a time as any to update you all on the success of the gel nails. In short, I love them. From now on, if I am ever going to get a mani or pedi, it is going to be this one. That being said they didn't last quite as long as I had dreamed anticipated. More so it was the fingers that didn't last as long which is why I am now on my second gel polish. I'm not sure if it was because my nails were so short, or if it was just more noticeable because of the lighter color, but my fingers lasted about 12-14 days. Already I am a week into this new polish and it is holding up much better than the first time around.

The toes, oh the toes, the toes are a completely different story. 3 weeks in and even after one crazy weekend I can easily get another week or so out of these babies. I can't believe it but after all the heel and sandal wearing there is only one little nick out of the big toe (too bad the rest of my feet didn't fare that well!)

After doing the math, and including the tip, the cost turns out to be exactly the same. The benefit of the gel/ shellac is that you get to miss out on the time suck time suck and the nails really do look better through the duration. The downside is that that you can't fix the nicks at home.

I think this is going to be one of those things that comes down to personal preference. I'm definitely in the yes column, but am still eager to hear how it lasts on other people.

I wonder what they will come up with next!?

Agree- I'd much rather go with the Gel just so I don't have to go through the hassle of sitting through a mani pedi more often then not. Thank you for the update!!

I find my pedicure always wears better than the the manicure.. and sometimes just to sit back and get someone else to do it is so enjoyable. Not that I've had one for ages! Cannot wait to hear about you NY trip and what you thought of SATC2! x
