The Name Game.

Okay, so I promise that this will be the last post (for at least a while) relating to "all things baby number two." Indulge me for one more, would you?

I know the whole baby name thing is something that most people like to keep close to their vest. Most people usually only tell their close friends or family, and some even wait until the birth for the big announcement. As you may have guessed, I am not one of those people. There are a few reasons why I tell anyone and everyone what we are naming are offspring only a few short days after that test turns pink...
  1. By telling everyone that we are 100% naming our kid/kids the following, you can avoid that whole awkward, "I hate that name," or "I once knew a girl who was covered in X and that was her name," or " I had and ex boyfriend/girlfriend named X and... blah, blah, blah."
  2. If anyone else in the universe names their child the same after the big announcement you can say, with certainty, that they stole it from you.
  3. It allows you to call growing bump anything other than "the growing bump."
That's my reasoning...

So, without further ado, somewhere around July 16th, when this little bean decides to enter the world, he/ she will be called the following:*

Boy:

Grayson "Gray" Robert Anderson
or Grayson "Gray" Werner Anderson, (if my husband gets his way which we all know he won't, I am the ONE carrying the child)

Girl:

Parker Holly Anderson

Both first names are random, and the second are family names. The Little Man took up both of our grandfather's names, William "Liam" Michael, so given that we are covered in that department we got to have a little fun with this one.

And if it's twins.....well...... don't even joke about that... that is SO not funny!

*Yes, I'm sure everyone has an opinion... but given number (1) how can you say anything negative, right? And if you love it and use it, remember you stole it from me, number (2) :) You see I may just be an evil genius after all.

Cute names. I don't mind the baby talk one bit. I'm so excited for you. :)

Eh, I know three girls with the first name Parker and they get mistaken for boys a lot. Holly Parker is cute!

Grayson Robert wins, hands down! I love that his initials, GRA, would phonetically spell his name. That's hard to do & is seriously the bomb.

Sorry, Mr. Anderson, you've been outgamed!

I am so happy that I am not the only one that instantly names their child after the line turns pink! AND for the exact same reasons! Love both names! Also...I'm hoping for lots of baby posts!

I like your names! And don't refrain from posting about baby stuff! It's obviously such a huge, exciting thing in your life right now, how could you NOT post about it?

Love. LOVE. Love. The chosen names. :) I totally agree with your reasoning too.

LOVE your names!! We also shared with everyone immediately! Grayson was on our list for a boy too! We really loved it, but went with Beckett instead. I find that people either love it, or hate it...and have no problem telling me, lol!

Congrats again!! And with those high beta numbers...you could be using both names!! :)

Awww, they both are fabulous! All the names we had picked went right out the window when we found out the sex.. and even our original girl name just wasn't it anymore!

Go ahead and talk all you want. You have waited long enough, you deserve it.

We had a short list, but we had no qualms in telling people what they were. Our reasoning was similar - so many friends were pregnant at the same time as us that we thought if we put it out there everyone would know they were our names.

Shit! Are you kidding me?

a. Holly parker is gorgeous.

b. I love Greyson Robert... so much so my Dh and I have been considering it (any boy we have will be a robert middle name), I guess greyson should be off the list.

Great names!

Such lovely names!

But I must admit I am a bit surprised so many people, based on the comments above, decide on the name before the birth. For us it always seemed like we had to meet the baby and get to know them before knowing what name suited them. We had nicknames for both my children throughout pregnancy and just kept on using those until we figured out the names, which took about 2 weeks both times! Almost all my friends with children have done the same. Hmmm... maybe it's a Europe vs. US difference?

Congrats on your pregnancy, I hope it all goes smoothly!

LOVE both of those names by the way! We, however, will probably be keeping our name to ourselves until delivery...had a nasty experience with a close relative last time...total turn-off! People need to keep their negativity to themselves, they don't get to name other people's babies!

Fabulous names. We waited until the big day, primarily so there was a bit of surprise for the delivery day, since we did find out the gender ahead of time. Also, we waited until we found out the gender to choose the names - my husband wouldn't even talk about it until then! It is funny how people share their opinions on the subject though.
