This Is Why I'm In Charge.

Lately The Husband and I have been trading off who gets the little man when he wakes up on the weekends. My heavenly child sleeps until about 8:30am, so the getting up part is not so difficult, it's usually what follows that is the more challenging part.

When it's the chosen person's "day" he/she has to get his bottle (yes, he's 18 months and still has a bottle in the morning) and change his clothes. Now, I'm not one of those people who changes their kid into his day clothes the minute he gets up. I figure that since I like lounging in my pajamas in the morning (day and night), then the little guy probably does too. The only problem with this is that when he wakes in the morning he is always wet. Like, t-shirt soaked, flannel pj's soaked, sometimes even the sheet has a nice layer of pee on it. (I wonder is this a just a boy thing, a LM, thing, or do all kids do this?) Ok, I digress.

So Sunday was The Husband's "day," and after a quick change this is what came running into my room.

Ummmm, speechless. Did he honestly think that this was an OK outfit choice?

Let me be clear, these are not even clothes. In fact they are just his summer pajamas.

Did he really think it was acceptable for him to wear this in pubic? Yeah, he did.

While I said nothing, I just thought to myself that this is why I'm in charge.

Oh dear! But be thankful for the fact he was clean and dressed, and got to spend some time with Dad while you relaxed. I'm sure that's all that mattered to your little man!

i can completely relate yum! in a similar vein, my husband put away my daughter's clean clothes yesterday morning. which is great. believe me - i love when he takes this initiative. but when i went into her drawers yesterday, there was nothing in the right spot. PJs in her sock and underwear drawer, leggings where her t-shirts belong. literally everything he put away was in the wrong spot. but i said nothing. i don't want to discourage his helpfulness!

I agree, his outfit is totally cute. I'd worry if LM is warm enough. Did your hubby remember to put some sock on him? Ciao.A.

I just laughed out loud. The same thing happens on an almost daily basis with my kids. It's the beauty of being little. It used to bother me but, the bottom line is, it just doesn't matter at this age. It's cute. It's when they get a little older that I'm worried about!

Only upside: at least he's clothed in public.
One evening I retrieved our kid from daycare wearing a onesie (which was too small!) When I asked where the heck were his pants, the daycare person told me, "he was dropped off like this." guys are CLUELESS.

Have you tried Huggies ovenight diapers? They hold like a gallon of pee. Might make for easier mornings. As for the outfit, typical guy. My husband always chooses the ugliest illest fitting clothes for both of our kids.

Hey... who says dino's and flowers dont go together?! I DO! Have so had this conversation before with Other Half! The worst was when he sent her off to pre school with what he thought was a dress that was actually a tunic meant for wearing over leggings... but he only put it over tights (panty hose for my beloved US cousins!). She was the class floozy all day poor girl! x

I've never commented on your blog before but I had to on this one. It cracked me up. Our house is the same. So on a day my husband was in charge he met me at the mall where I was meeting a friend with her daughter. He shows up with my daughter in a shirt and tights. No pants. NO PANTS. WTF am I supposed to do with that? He SWORE he thought the tights were pants.

The outfit your husband picked out is awesome - it's cute and it's fun and your kid is not even old enough to care what he looks like. Important thing is that he is loved, he is clothed, and he has a roof over his head. Some kids (in your very own neighborhood) don't even have that.
