Editors note: Playing this song while reading this post is the only way to truly to get a glimpse at the enthusiasm that is bubbling inside of me.

Yes, It's finally time for my NYC Sex and the City Weekend!!!!

Tomorrow at 7 am I will be embarking on my child free/ husband free 56 hour Carrie Bradshaw dream weekend. Here is what my dream looks like.

  • Tomorrow I (or "Carrie" as I would hereinafter like to be referred to for the rest of the weekend) will be taking the train (for the first time) and on my agenda is reading The Carrie Diaries, a new US Weekly, and 2 months worth of Vogue.
  • Having drinks on the rooftop of the new Standard hotel. (apparently it is open to us "normal" people from 4:30p-8:30p.)
  • Seeing SATC 2!!! (at 6p tomorrow). Oh, Aiden I heart you.
  • Checking out a recommended art installation between Washington and Greenwich St.
  • Lunch at Pastis and Cafe Cluny. (highly recommended by my bestie)
  • Tapas in the West Village.
  • Staying with my SIL on Bleecker Street (I think that's where Ms. Bradshaw lived.)
  • Checking out Chelsea flea markets.
  • Checking out all of the service men in uniform. (It is Fleet Week you know!)
  • Window (and otherwise) shopping in Nolita.
  • Keeping my eyes out for stalking any and all celebrities.
  • Vintage shopping on the lower east side.
  • Reading the Sunday New York Times on Sunday, in New York (this may be what I'm most excited about.)
  • Sleeping in past 7am. (ditto on the above)
  • And finally, eating and drinking, and eating and drinking, and eating, and drinking, and eating....
I am so excited I think my head is about to pop!

Is there anything that I am missing???? If any of you NYC locals have any tips, please, please, please send them my way!!!

On a side note my SIL has made me promise not to sing the above song at the top of my lungs everywhere we go. Apparently it may give away my tourist status. I assured her that my cover will likely be blown by the GIANT camera that I will be carrying at all times. I may be outed as a non-local but I promise to have some great pics from the trip to share with you all when I get back.

I hope you all have a great long weekend and that you ladies are able to get in some Sex and the City time with your girls!

Carrie Bradshaw lived on East 73rd Street.

My bad. Guess I'll just have to pretend. All those years in New York and no suggestions?

If you want to witness the current edge of modern art, you might want to squeeze in a trip to MOMA this weekend. There's an exhibition by Marina Abramovic titled "The Artist is Present" and it's just something to be experienced! I went a few weeks ago and had no idea what to expect. I came away with a new understanding of this art form. The exhibit closes on memorial day. Here's some background:

Enjoy your trip!

On the show her address was East 73rd but the exterior is actually a brownstone on Perry St. It's in the Bleecker St. neighborhood so you should have no problem finding it with your iPhone GPS. I promise you'll recognize it as soon as you see it : )

What an awesome weekend. We have our premiere on Wednesday night - watch the first movie and have champas and nibbles and then watch no 2. Can't wait.

I enjoy SATC and watched it for years, not obsessively but for fun, in my twenties. Once again, I'm a bit horrified by your obsession with all things media-made and materialistic. I know some readers of your blog and perhaps you will believe I'm negative- I'm not. I I enjoy fashion and I'm a mom, which is why I check in on your blog here and there ( I enjoyed the recent trends pics, BTW). I have progressively developed a sadness for you though. It seems to me when I read your blog, that you're trying to create this bizarre fantasy world where your emulation of these characters and the places they lived ( in the show) is somehow real and that you are them. It's great to dream, but how about creating your own dreams? How about dedicating all of this ebergy to something worthwhile? Forking over what must be thousands on flight, food, drink, etc to get close to characters that aren't real- well it's all just a bit sad. There's so much in life to explore- and so much good work to do ( how about the environment?, the oil spill crisis, the thousands of young men who have been injured in the war overseas that need help? ) I'm not perfect and neither are you, but we must try to be intelligent, mature models for our children. Isn't out time spent better really devoting our energy to making the world a better place? Have fun, watch the movie- but it seems your devotion to all things unreal, materialistic and media-driven is a bit off balance.

Anon, rarely do I comment back, but I think you are the delusional one here. Thousands of dollars? Try 250. A train ticket and a free place to stay does not make fror a ridiculously over priced weekend. Yes we saw the movie, no I didn't love it and that was a whopping two hours of an entire weekend. This is a blog, my writing is supposed to be numerous and a little over dramatic to make it light and funny. If you are reading this and thinking that I am 100 percent serious than perhaps you are spending too much time on the Internet. You may think I need a dose of reality but you also need to lighten up. I like to have fun with my son and in life, I'm sorry if you think that isn't good enough.

wow- yummy mummy, I guess I struck a nerve here. It isn't just this past blog about SITC, it's the entire blog, which has a feeling of vapid materialism to it. If you're going to write a blog you should at least be open to hearing from people that see things differently than you do. I am not judging you as a person- but whether you know it or not, you do tend to publish lots of personal info and most of what you seem to focus on is items you've purchased for your home, clothes, shoes, etc-this gives the reader a feeling that you're a bit shallow, if you must know. I spend about an hour a day on the internet, by the way. I have a 4 year old, an 8 month old, a surgeon husband who works a lot and I'm starting my own business. I think anyone who knew me would describe me as fun, light-hearted and a good friend, so please don't assume that I sit around all day on the internet. Thanks for listening.

I remember Fleet week in the series. How lucky you are, I will get there one day!

Kerr- No nerve was struck, I just don't understand why people would comment on a blog that says very clearly in the "about me" that it is about "fashion, shoes, babies, travel, and living in Boston." It is clearly about all things superficial, so for you to continue to comment about how shallow it is, really is mind blowing. If I wanted to write about politics, I would write a blog about politics. If I wanted to write strictly about my child(ren) I would. This blog is a fun outlet for me. Therefore, I (when my child is napping) write about things that are lovely, and silly, and yes, sometime serious, but never too heavy and typically not that controversial. I think coming over here under the guise that you are "helping" by continually calling out how shallow I am is more of a reflection on you. How about you write a blog about what you want and I will come over every day and tell you how I want it specifically tailored to my likes and dislikes. I will make no excuses for what I write, there is no bait and switch here, the topics are clear and a lot more people than not enjoy it. You can think that I am shallow all you want, and judge this one dimensional piece of my life all you want, but in the end you would be better off not wasting your time and mine by continuing comment on something that you view as so beneath you. Go save someone else, I am very confident in who I am and will not (for you or anyone else) change.

good points, yummy mummy. sounds like your blog is your blog and that's great- good for you for sticking to your guns. from one mom to another, i feel i've upset you and i feel bad about it- it's not my style. women should support each other, not lash out at one another. I guess I'm thinking a lot lately about my almost 5 year-old daughter and what I want to model for her. I don't have it all figured out by any means, but I'm having a hard time with balancing exposure to fun, girlie stuff and trying to help her develop into an intelligent, thinking young girl, which let me tell you is a tall order. I guess because I don't know you, you are a representation of all things material, which, I've been pretty turned off by lately having just moved into a very affluent Boston neighborhood. I need to find my own balance, so thanks for putting in to perspective.
