If I Won The Lottery.

Is anyone else out there as obsessed with the Novogratz family from 9 by Design as I am? Yeah, I thought so. If you haven't been watching this show I think you are seriously missing out. The reality series, on Bravo (the home of all things awesome and trashy,) follows Bob and Courtney Novogratz and their 7 (yes 7!) children, as they renovate fabulous home after fabulous home in downtown NYC. I don't know what I envy more, their exquisite taste, the fact that they can handle 7 children and still live in the city, or that they seem to be able to manage themselves (and their children) in high stress situations like I could only dream. Whatever it is, it makes for some serious must see TV. To say that I LOVE their style wouldn't do it justice. If I won the lottery the very first thing I would do is hire this team to build me the home of my (aka their) dreams. I am so inspired by the way that they mix such eclectic pieces to make a home that is modern, clean, and surprisingly family friendly.

Unbelievably gorgeous, right?

Well, since I don't see myself winning the lottery anytime soon (I guess I should buy the ticket first) I will have to settle for the fabulous new book that they just published. It's called Downtown Chic and it looks like it's going to be one fantastic read.

When it comes to design (and parenting) I can use all the help I can get. What better way then to go straight to the source? Now if only I could have that unlimited budget as well. Hmmmm maybe it's time to get that lottery ticket.

I find this show fascinating as well! But don't worry - you don't need their budget. Creativity is worth its weight in gold when it comes to decorating and parenting!

Love the show and the book. I now want to redo my entire house in Novogratz Style. My house seems 'too done'. Never thought I'd say that.

Just a reminder that what you watch on T.V. is a fabrication of what the producers would like you to see- otherwise, it'd be pretty boring t.v. - if they showed us all the scenes that probably mirror the rest of our lives ( annoyance with kids, fights over who takes out the trash, etc etc)nobody would watch. I like reading your blog because you're spirited and upbeat, but I worry that you care a little too much about what you THINK you should have and how you think your life SHOULD be - it's nice to dream and emulate the things that you admire, but keep in mind that these things are all fleeting- a good solid understanding of who you are and solid, long-lasting realtionships are far more important. I know that you write a blog and that your "job" in this respect is to report on the things that delight you, but one thing I've learned- (I'll be 40 this year, and like you, consider myself to be a yummy mummy ( of 2) )is that the "cover" ( of the book, if you will) is far less important than the chapters and the story that unfolds inside!

Are you kidding Kay? Yummy doesn't care a "little" too much about what she thinks she should have. It's ALL she cares about.

I have a massive new girl crush on Cortney Novogratz. Just watching her keep it together with those 7 kids and her business has inspired me and made me feel like all my belly-achin' about our current moving/baby/life chaos is totally uncalled for. She's an inspiration. And I want her bathtub. Bob, on the other hand, seems to be a bit of a PITA.
