Last Thursday the Husband and I went to the dreaded Nursery School interview and it was nothing like I expected it to be. It turned out to be much, much, much......better! Like oh my god please let my child in, your school is so wonderful, we would do anything to go here better.

To say that it was amazing is a serious understatement. To say that school is worth every last penny would not even cover it. To say that I loved it would need bold and capital LOVED it letters. OK you get the point.

The thing was that this school just fit so well with our personalities and it exemplified exactly the type of place that I would love to watch my child learn and grow. For example every age group (including the two year olds) practice yoga every day. Yoga? The practice that the Husband and I are obsessed with? I couldn't believe it. While we were there we actually got to watch the 3 year olds doing their class and it was by far the cutest thing I ever saw. There was music and they all did the butterfly pose and decided that they would fly to "eyeball" town. The kids were just so happy and I know my little man would have loved every minute of it. We both sat there for ten minutes with the biggest smiles on our faces.

Another thing I really liked is that they tailor the classes to the child's personality and thier likes and dislikes. Everyday the kids are presented with a lesson in 4 different types of activities and they get to choose which one they want to do. For my little man who hates being "forced" to do something he isn't interested in this would be the ideal environment for him. They (the teachers, 2 per 12 students) watch what he gravitates towards naturally and they try to find out why he likes things a certain way and then they expand on that just for him. Just for him? Did I say that I LOVE this school??

At the end we met with the director and thankfully the Husband was on his best behavior (as you recall he thinks this whole process is a bit silly.) I felt like we really clicked and she, also being from Cambridge, really seemed to like us (which is how I'm sure they make everyone feel.) She just kept saying things like community, fun, "it takes a village." Buzzwords that made me desperate to send my little man there. We told her how much we loved the school and that this was our first and only choice (unclear if this was the best idea.) The next day we sent handwritten thank you notes and now we just wait.

The hard part for me is that I went into this thinking that they were going to be super snobby and that there was no way we would have a chance. Why oh why did they have to be so damn nice? Now we feel like we have a chance and I will be devastated if we don't get in. We have all our eggs in this one basket so until March 10th I will be sitting here crossing my fingers and my toes hoping that we were what they are looking for. Hoping that one day my little man will be coming home and showing me his new downward dog pose.

Really, how cute is that????

It sounds great...am so glad it went better than expected. And really, how can they resist when they see the sure-to-be-adorable picture of the LM that you had to attach to the application?

Good luck!!!

Well, I can tell you that they don't do yoga here in Boston, UK (the original and... slightly less than best). And was your friend from Cambridge, Mass or Cambridge, Cantanbridgiensis? I suspect the former.

Okay, there's yoga, there's a choice of activities...and I'm assuming there's snack time and nap time too. Do they take adults cause i'd like to join!

Jo- that was exactly my thought! I told the husband if I could live there I would have 10 kids!

Wow... this place sounds amazing! Wishing you loads of luck - the LM needs to get in there! Especially on his ability to leave little toy piles neatly all over the house - loved those photos! x

The school sound really fantastic! Hope you'll manage to get LM into it. Don't they offer activities for the parents as well? Just to vond with kids and teacher? That would be great! Ciao. A.

Love your blog and your classic New England spin on all things style related. You're like a blond Jackie O' for the 2000's. I am sure you have seen this but just in case wanted to pass along... http://www.piperlime.com/browse/category.do?cid=37836
No babies yet for us but my goal will be for sure be a Yummy Mummy too!
