Okay, so outside it already feels like Fall. As in it's COLD, and it's only the middle of September! I know you are all expecting me to complain about what a short Summer it has been, how I hate the cold, and how unfair the weather in New England is, yada, yada, yada. Well, guess what? I'm not complaining! Not at all. The fact is I'm actually feeling fall this year. Whoa, I know, I'm as surprised as you are. The following things may have something to do with my chipper mood.
The first is this pair of extremely delicious deep purple leather gloves that I found at J. Crew this morning. I have been lusting after a pair of leather gloves since I dropped one of my black ones in Vermont....4 years ago! Yes, it stung so badly at the time, I just couldn't bring myself to get another pair. Each year I have been buying a pair of wool or cashmere gloves, and each Spring I am forced to throw them away because they are completely tattered and torn. Well, not this year. This year I decided to bite the bullet and get a new pair. I figured I would just get black, but when I saw these deep purple beauties I knew that they were the one. Finally I will have warm (and fashionable) piggies as I push the stroller in the freezing cold for the next 6-8 months. The 80 dollar price tag also sweetened the deal considering that they are made of real leather and cashmere. I guarantee you that I will be guarding these babies with my life!
I'm not the only one who is loving the Fall fashion. My little man finally has the chance to wear all of his new school clothes. I can't believe I ever thought that you only needed a girl to have fun playing dress up with. This was, of course, before I figured out how many amazingly cute boy's clothes there are! Cute and cheap, this whole outfit was about 30 bucks. Thank you Old Navy, Gap, and J Crew kids! You can see the little guy is pretty happy with his new "look."
I don't know if it's just me but the minute the temperature drops below 70, I all of a sudden become obsessed with cooking. All week I've been dreaming of soups, and stews, and last night it was some fresh Spicy Clam Linguine. This was an easy dinner to prepare and something about the warmth of the dish and the flavors of the sea was the perfect meal to transition from Summer to Fall. This dinner only took about 20 minutes and would be great if cooking for a large group. The recipe is from Ms. Martha Stewart herself and can be found here. I am on a major cooking kick so you can expect plenty of new recipes to follow.
Finally, my favorite memory as a kid was wearing fleece footie pajamas. I grew up in Colorado and I swear I must have lived in these things. They are so warm, and so cute, and I absolutely love snuggling up to my little man when he is in his pj's. Last year I was able to find a wide assortment of these comfy pieces. That was until the LM grew out of a 2T. In that size I just couldn't find any jammies and I was beginning wonder what the heck he was going to wear all Winter. Any of you with a toddlers out there know that it is impossible to keep covers on these guys so I was expecting a higher than usual gas bill so I could keep him warm and toasty. Luckily, Old Navy came through this year and made a few fleece footed pj's in sizes all the way up to 5T. I picked up these ones today and I can't wait to snuggle up to my little guy while he is wearing them. Now if they only made them in adult size!
I am officially loving fall until after the second snowfall. After that I reserve the right to begin bitching about the weather. Hey, I wouldn't be a true Bostonian if I didn't right? For now I am loving riding boots, chunky sweaters. hot chocolate, and the chance to wear my trench from last year. For now......

I love PJ's with the feet as well, keeps my very fast growing little man a baby just a little bit longer. Im sure our Target's are completely different but they make PJ's with feet up to about a size 10 here.
Oooh... am loving those gloves. I need a new pair this year. You might have just inspired me to steer away from my usual black with those beauties! Bring on the cold weather! x
You can get fleece footies from Carters. At the outlets in Wrentham they're ~$9, they're super comfy, have lasted through my 3 kids and they make them through size 7 at least (I haven't tried for the bigger sizes yet.)
LOVE your blog! So cute. And is your adorable son's sweater from J.Crew? I bought a few for my boys on a recent trip to D.C.! :)
All red-blooded men love the sight of a yummy mummy in sexy leather gloves. You'll turn a lot of heads with those!
