For the moment I've given up my quest for my bubble gum colored pink locks. Le sigh.
With Costa on the horizon, and the joys that come with Summer (like sun and swimming pools) my pink hair didn't stand a chance and now that I know I can do it at home anytime I want, the desire has somewhat lessened. In short, at least for the next few months, I've given up. Once the pink washed out I decided to go back to my roots, and by roots I mean the opposite of my "actual" roots, and I'm making it my mission to reclaim my platinum blonde hair.
The first step in this endeavor was to get a solid summer cut, and I was inspired but the chop that Carolyn Murphy debuted a few months back. Clean and fresh, wash and go. My new mantra. From the minute the first chunk of hair fell to the floor I knew I made the right decision. With most of the pink now laying on the floor I had two options, live with my bright blond that with time had gotten a little more golden, or find a way to bring back the white without completely destroying my hair. I remembered back from my law school days when I would wash with a lavender shampoo to get my icy blonde color and I was thrilled to find this is still a thing. My hairstylist recommend a high end product that would do the trick, but under his breath mentioned that there we about a dozen more products on the market that would do the same thing at a fraction of the cost. I found one by a reviewer I trust and I kid you not, one wash and my hair was like something out of the movie Frozen and it almost made me not miss the pink. Almost.

For those of you looking to lighten your locks this summer without any damage, I can't say enough about lavender shampoo. I had completely forgotten about this easy trick, but you can bet I won't be making that mistake again any time soon! One wash is all you need and my hair has stayed perfectly platinum by simply washing my hair with this shampoo a few times a week.
Blonde is synonymous with summer and now getting the look couldn't be any easier.

I'm hesitant to say it, but I think I might actually love my hair, which for me and my constant desire for change is a very big deal. While it's good for me, I hate to admit that might be the end of the hair posts around here for a while.
Haha, who am I kidding... give me until Fall, I'm sure I'll be dreaming of something else by then!

You instantly made me feel better about my "too short" post pregnancy must cut off all my hair, haircut!! And I really really really want to take the platinum plunge. Honestly, how often do you go for touch ups? I was thinking even a high ombre platinum...? Could be a disaster. Hah.
