Please tell me if this is TMI.
For the past 4 months I have been using the Clearblue Easy fertility monitor (pictured to the right). Every month I have been getting the "egg" on day 17. For those of you out there who are not familiar with this type of device, this is basically the day you are supposed to get down and dirty to have the best chance of getting knocked up.
So I have been following this regimen without any success and at this point I am questioning the accuracy of these tests. Why now? Because now I am in day 20 and still no egg. I'm pretty sure I have already ovulated and have been trying to listen to my body and the machine. I read on the Internet that you are also supposed to "try" prior to your money day so I have been doing that too.
This whole no egg thing is still driving me nuts. I called the company today and they said if there is no egg then keep going, or maybe I'm not ovulating this month. Can that happen?
I curious if any of you out there have used these type of machines and had any luck or success. As an aside I was able to get pregnant twice (on the first try) with the sticks that give you simile faces, but to save money this time I went with the fancy monitor. Yes, I am now regretting that decision.
Please feel free to leave anonymous comments if you have any advice or experience with this device or getting knocked up in general.

I do feel for you, it can get quite stressful when trying for a baby. I'm afraid I don't have any wise words or failsafe methods for checking your ovulation, but I do have one recommendation: make sure you have wild, passionate, red hot sex, and lots of it!
Good luck. x
Caveat...I have zero experience with any of this. So I can't comment on the machine specifically. You didn't say if this is the case, but is the machine actually conflicting with what your body is telling you? If so, you might try following your body's lead. I know mine practically screams "ovulating, ovulating!" every month but I don't know if everyone is like that =) And if the smile sticks worked so well before, perhaps you can try both...hopefully third time will be the charm!
I am in full agreement with you all. Believe me I have left no stone unturned. I believe the quote from The Husband last night was, "I'm not a 15 year old boy for Christ's sake."
I think I may break him this month.
Baby or bust I say.

GOOD LUCK!!
...and this is why i. love. this. blog! :)
when I think cougar. I think of Kirby from lipstick jungle. mmmmmmmmmm
LOL! Funny comments.
I haven't ever used the monitor... But back when I was trying I used the sticks you pee on... And I also get ovulation pains each month too. It feels like a lower back pain near my kidneys, on one side each month.
It absolutely is possible to not release an egg one month. And you can release an egg form each ovary in the same month too... Rather than one egg from only one ovary each month.
The body is a weird thing.
But, like the company said... You could just be ovulating late this month. So I wouldn't stress.
I usually ovulate around day 13 or 14 each month.
ahhh that's not TMI! I'm still not in the mature 'let's make a baby' stage of my life, so i get nervous when I hear stuff regarding pregnancy tests! :) but i'm sure that will all change within the next year or so
good luck!
It isn't glamorous, but I tracked my cervical mucous for several years when I was trying to NOT get pregnant, and it works. Google it for the how-to, but it really is your body's own way of letting you know when you're getting close to ovulation. I don't have any experience with fertility gadgets, but trust the mucous, it doesn't lie. And it's free.
I've never used this object, thank God! But my cousin did use something similar and it never really worked. When she gave up, she got pregant twice withing two years! Hope your hubby is not complaining, most men would be over the moon! Good love and don't get too stressed up. Ciao. A.
My mother in law suggested that I stick a thermometer up my bum........maybe next month.....or year. Ouch!
Thanks for all the advice, I will take it ALL!
xoxo
Ym
Just found your blog and it's fantastic. As an antenatal teacher I spend my life interested in things like this, and have 3 things to say...
1. yes it's perfectly normal to have the odd cycle where you don't ovulate.
2. trust your body's cervical mucus and positioning more than a monitor.
3. have loads of sex!!!
Funnily enough I was speaking to a Norwegian friend this weekend and her best friend has been trying to get pregnant for five years. Reflexology did it - for her and lots of others that they know... works every time they say. So get on and book yourself in for some sessions girl! Having your feet massaged in order to fall preggers - how cool is that! x
I have heard the same about cervical mucous too (egg white-like and stretchy I think (TMI!!)). The advice came from a friend who is a medical rep (perhaps counts for something?).
Hilarious comments above -'going to break him'!
My sister is trying at the mo and so far no luck. She's only dabbled with a thermometer though.
Best of luck. Ask the angels for a baby this month. You might be surprised. I forget the name of the fertility angel, so just ask them all! xo
