I Can't Say They Didn't Warn Me.

I must admit that I rarely look at the age range when buying my little man a new toy. Small parts? Yes. Breakable pieces? Yes. Age appropriateness? Never. I always just figured those were just "guidelines." Yeah, well they're not.

A few months back a bought my little man a few wooden puzzles. He is very into letters and trucks and these puzzles incorporated those two loves. The puzzles said they were geared towards children 3 and up, and I must say I was a bit confused as to why. They are just puzzles, right?

Over the past few weeks I have answered my own question. The reason that they are for kids 3 and up is because ONLY kids who are three and up can put them back together. I can't say they didn't warm me.

My little man's favorite new game is to wake up and the first thing he wants to do in the morning is take apart every single puzzle. He then yells for me to put them back together. Then he takes them apart, yells for me.... vicious cycle. Needless to say I have become an expert at kid's puzzles, and my little man, well, he has learned how to make a really big mess really really fast.

I'm not quite sure that is what the manufacturer had in mind.

*And before any of you ask, yes that is a morning bottle my kid is holding. No, I didn't take it away when he turned two. Yes, I am TOTALLY weak. They are being thrown away next week when we go back to Maryland. I swear. I know I am a such a wimp.

It seems like ALL the fun toys are for 3 +. What about our 2 yr olds?? It still amazes me that your LM likes to watch DVDs. I keep checking out videos from the library but can't find anything that peaks their interest which is really important to me considering we are going on long car trips for Thanksgiving and Christmas UGHHH.

BFD on the bottle! You are obviously a fantastic mom - don't be so hard on yourself.

It's ok, I didn't take my son's bottles away until last month....he turned two on the
14th. He only got one in the late afternoon and since he is my last baby (unless God smacks me with a surprise...never been preg, all adopted kids) I wanted to savor him. :)Kriss

Don't be so hard on yourself. My oldest had his binky til he was nearly 3 *gasp!* Regardless, he turned out to be a well adjusted young man.

My kid does the same thing with his puzzles. I tried to stay a step ahead by storing the pieces for each puzzle in its own ziplock bag. Now he just grabs the box of bags and dumps each one onto the floor. It must be a 2yr old boy thing. My daughter never did this.

You guys are too nice! You made me feel a hell of a lot better though! Binky stays, bottle goes, one week and counting.

What is it about them no making toys for 2 year olds. 2 year olds are bored little people too!

Jodi, the key is the 3 C's. Cars (the movie), Curious George and Calliou. He get's a half hour in the morning and a half at night. "Treats" Good luck, I've learned that when kids travel they truly will watch almost anything. Our last trip the little man watched the Hangover with me with earplugs and everything. Oppps I may have just over shared :)
